ICE CREAM SOCIAL We will have an ice cream social at the end of the day today for students that made honor roll for the third nine weeks. Only the students on the list that teachers received last week should be released to go to the ice cream social. No other students should be released from class after 2:50 p.m.
Congratulations to the boys and girls track teams for their first place finishes over Western Albemarle and Covenant School yesterday. The girls were led in scoring by Precious Banks, Codie Burrus and K'Anna Loyd and the boys were led by Charles Boling and Kadarius Bruce, Brandon Johnson, Deyon Brice, and Emmanuel Tanner.

CONGRATULATIONS The girls track team placed 8th overall at the Gus Lacy Invitational on Saturday. Precious Banks set a new school record and qualified for states in the 300m hurdles with a time of 47.97. K'anna Loyd set a new school record in the triple jump with a jump of 34Õ 6 * Ò. The following girls earned medals at the meet: K'anna Loyd: 100m (5th) Long Jump (6th) Triple Jump (2nd) Precious Banks 300m Hurdles (2nd) Long Jump (5th) Dana Luniewski: Pole Vault (6th) The Boys team also took home several medals from the Gus Lacy Track meet, led by Charles Chuckles Boling who won gold in the 100 Meter Dash with a run of 11.09 seconds in windy conditions. Charles also medaled in the 400 meter dash, just missing the school record by less than a second. Emmanuel Tanner medaled in the 300 Hurdles and also led off for both the 4X100 relay and 4X400 relays to medals. Racing in the 4X100 relay were Tanner, Jamal Spears, Kedarius Bruce and Mark White. The 4X400 medal team consisted of Tanner, Mark White, Kyle Stephens, and Charles Boling. Kedarius Bruce also grabbed a medal in the triple jump and Phillip Parmly medaled in the Pole Vault. Deyon Brice rounded out the medals for the boys bringing home hardware the in shot put. Next Saturday the track teams will compete at the Amherst Invitational.
Boy's Tennis- The boy's tennis team will host Charlottesville at the main courts at Lake Monticello today at 5:00. All boys’ tennis players should meet at the courts directly after school.

PVCC PLACEMENT TESTING will be done April 21 through April 25. In order to test you must have completed your PVCC application and turned in to guidance your PVCC Emp Id number and your Dual Enrollment Course Request form. Congratulations to the Fluvanna County High School Winter Guard on an outstanding season of Competition. The Fluvanna Winter Guard began their season in the A-3 Classification, and they were promoted mid-season to A-2. This is second time in Fluvanna history that they have been promoted to this class. Fluvanna also went on to Place 4th in the Atlantic Indoor Association Championships on April 6th at C.D. Hylton High School. This is also the second time that Fluvanna has placed so high in the A-2 Division. Fluvanna received medals at a promotion ceremony at Hylton. The Winter Guard Hopes to host a short assembly here at the high school. Stay tuned to "In the Know" for further details.

Congratulations to the boys track team for their performances at the Amherst Invitational Track Meet on Saturday. Of the 23 teams at the meet, the Flucos finished 4th and captured many medals along the way. Bringing home the gold in the 200 meter dash was Charles Boling with a time of 22.66. The boys 4X100 Meter relay team of Emmanuel Tanner, Jamal Spears, Kedarius Bruce, and Charles Boling finished a close second with a state-qualifying mark. The boys 4X400 team of Kyle Stephens, Mark White, DW Key and Emmanuel Tanner also medaled. Tanner also medaled in the 300 Hurdles, Kedarius Bruce medaled in the triple jump, Chuckles Boling medaled in the 100 meter, Philip Parmly medaled in the pole vault, and Kyle Stephens medaled in the 800 Meter run.

STUDENTS The award-winning Fluvanna Marching Flucos are holding tryouts for the 2008 color guard. Tryouts will be held on Tuesday April 29th, Tuesday May 6th, and Thursday May 8th. All three meetings are Mandatory! The meetings will be held from 3:45 to 5:45 p.m. in the band room. Membership is open to students from grade 7 to 12, no experience necessary. Come out and join one of the best color guards in Virginia!

Students: Important Changes for SOL testing Early dismissals will not be granted until noon from May 12 to May 15 due to SOL testing. Possession of a cell phone during SOL testing will result in a day of OSS. This includes phones on your belt or visible in any way. If the phone vibrates or rings, you will get a day of OSS. "I forgot" will not release you from consequences. We will NOT be collecting phones before testing." No warnings will be given
LIBRARY BOOKS Please return all overdue books to the library. Please check the due date in your library books and return the books to the library by that date. Seniors with overdue books and/or fines will not be allowed to graduate. Report cards will be held for all other students with overdue books and/or fines.
IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO ALL STUDENTS Ð Students with more than 10 unexcused absences who have failed their courses due to excessive absenteeism may initiate an appeals process. The request for an appeal must be made in writing using the appropriate form which can be obtained from Ms. M. Brown in the attendance office, Ms. Magner, and Mr. Scales. All appeals must be received no later than the end of the school day on Friday, 5/9. Appeal forms received after the deadline will not be considered.
STUDENTS The Fluvanna County Band Programs will give a mass concert on Thursday May 1st at Central Elementary School at 7:00 p.m. The concert will feature performances by the Central Elementary School Band, The Fluvanna Middle School Bands, and the Fluvanna County High School Band. Refreshments will be sold in the lobby, and the bands will hold a 50/50 raffle. Come and enjoy an evening of music featuring all the Fluvanna County Bands together for the first time!
ART SHOW "It's about that time, folks!" The FCHS annual Art Show and Sale will be on Tuesday, May 6th in the annex gym. It will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for students and teachers, and 3:30 - 8 p.m. for people in the community. Students will not be permitted to enter the art show without a teacher. Please come out and support the arts!
CHEER TRYOUTS have been rescheduled for May 6, 7, and 8 at 4 p.m. All girls who have not had a Virginia High School physical for this school year must have one before May 5th.
FLUCO FEST T-SHIRTS The sale of Flucofest t-shirts has been extended to May 1st during all lunches so hurry up and get your t-shirts today. The cost is $10.00. No extras will be available at Flucofest.
JV & Varsity Volleyballs players Please report to room 101 during clubs on Wednesday for a brief meeting.
All JV & Varsity baseball and Softball players Attention all JV and Varsity baseball and softball players. Would you like to make money while enjoying the game of softball and contributing to the community? If so, the Fluvanna Girls Softball League is in need of umpires. We have games almost every night of the week and every Saturday. Pay for a 90-minute game is $30 behind the plate and $20 in the field. See Mr. Koczan in room 234 to sign up or for additional information.
Student-Athletes: If you plan on trying out for a team at FCHS next school year then you need to have a VHSL Physical dated after May 1st 2008. There will be 2 chances to get that done here at FCHS, May 30th and August 1st. If your last name starts with letters A-M they will start at 8am, if your last name starts with letters L-Z then you will start at 10am. You must pick up a form from the main office, nurse or Trainer Davis before the last day of school and your personal information completed when you show up for the physical. Any questions, just ask Trainer Davis.
TRACK The track team will be traveling to Monticello and needs to be released at 3:00 today. The bus will leave the high school at 3:15 from in front of the school.
GIRLS BASKETBALL Any girl who plans on playing basketball next year, needs to see Coach White about the summer league that the girl's basketball team will be participating in. It is very important that you come see Coach White and pick up the information about the summer league.
