PAUL BRAGG SCHOLARSHIP FUND This year $85,000 will be given to graduating seniors from Fluvanna County High School to attend a 4 year college, community college or technical school. One student winner will receive a $40,000 scholarship) payable over 4 years), three will win $10,000 and three will win $5000. Applications are available on the school website (www.fluco.org/FCHS/guid_resource.htm) under guidance resources or in the career center. Deadline for completed application is March 31 and deadline for completed FAFSA student aid report and Financial Aide Award letter is May 2. (Please note the two different deadlines) Late information will not be accepted so make certain that you meet the established deadlines.

Seniors The time has come to sign up for the senior class trips. We are hoping to go to Philadelphia and Graves Mountain Lodge. Space is limited on the trip to Philadelphia, so don't delay. BASEBALL -- BASEBALL -- Any student interested in playing baseball this spring, there will be a meeting during club time on Wednesday, February 6th. THIS IS A CHANGE OF DATE! The meeting will be held in the Annex Gym. It is important that you attend this meeting as information will be discussed concerning the try-outs that start on February 25th as well as the upcoming season. This meeting is for all interested students 9th through 12th grade. In order to attend this meeting, you must get a pass from Coach McCauley (room 209).

Students The Fluvanna Community Step team will host their 1st Annual Step Show Competition on March 15, 2008. We will have the host from 92.7 in the house to host this event. Different teams will also be there to perform. The doors open at 4:30 pm and the show will start at 5:00pm. So bring your dancing shoes and come out to have fun. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for children 10yrs. and under).

STUDENTS The Sophomore Class will be selling Valentine’s Day candy grams during all lunches starting this Wednesday February 6th through the 13th of February. The candy grams will be delivered during 2nd period on February 14th. They are only 25 cents and allow you to write a note to someone special and give them a sweet treat. So take a break out of your lunch and but one for your special someone.

CONGRATULATIONS to the girls' swim team who place 5th in the Region on Saturday - out of 20 teams. Sarah Bomberger was 2nd in the diving competition. The girls medley relay, the 400 relay, Chelsea Tomko, and Michelle Caron all contributed top 3 finishes. The girls compete this Thursday and Friday in the State Preliminaries with the following girls attending: Alex Tomko, Bailey Bingler, Michelle Caron, Laura Neeley, Johnnie Hineman, Kasey Hartman, Riley Scalzo, Chelsea Tomko, Katie McIvor, and Sarah Bomberger and Maria Arroyo.

Congratulations to Lynelle Douma she won the 1000m run yesterday at Louisa. She ran a district qualifying time and is 2 seconds off a regional qualifying time. Congratulations to Kedarius Bruce he qualified for states yesterday in the Long jump. The boys 4x400 relay team ran a regional qualifying time with Danny Edgell, Paul Duffau, Kedarius Bruce and Andres Otel. Good job.

BOYS BASKETBALL The Flucos play at home tonight against 1st place Monticello. Come out and watch the Flucos take them down. JV game starts at 6 p.m. See you there!

BAND On Sunday February 24th the Marching Band is holding an all you can eat Buffet-Style Dinner at the Ashlawn Grille, in the Clubhouse at Lake Monticello. Congratulations to the Fluvanna County Robotics Team on their success at the 2008 Maryland State Championship. Fluvanna competed with 31 teams at the F.I.R.S.T. Tech Challenge and finished the competition with a record of 4 wins and 1 loss. This record along with the points they earned gave Fluvanna Robotics a 6th place seeding among the 31 teams. WRESTLING Weather moved the Region II wrestling tournament to Saturday and today. Nine Fluco grapplers continued their season on Saturday; I will be competing this evening.
