Students The Fluvanna Community Step team will host their 1st Annual Step Show Competition on March 15, 2008. We will have the host Big Lem from 92.7 in the house to host this event. Different teams will also be there for competition. The doors open at 4:00 pm and the show will start at 5:00pm. So bring your dancing shoes and come out to have fun. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for children - 5yrs. and under are free)the judges will be Ms. Mills, Ms. Lewis, Ms. Groom, Mr. White and Ms. Ross will be there to crown the winners of the step show.


BETA CLUB The Beta Club is collecting supplies for the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House provides a free place to stay when a loved one is in the hospital for a while. We are asking if you could bring in bottled hand soap, hot chocolate mix, bottled water, canned pasta, juice boxes and paper towels. Also any 50 cents or $1.00 donations are welcome. Drop off to Mrs. Beckenstein's room 233 by March 14th.

Congratulations to the girls and boys who participated in the State Indoor Track Meet on Saturday. We had 10 athletes receive All State Honors and two school records were broken. Phillip Parmly placed 5th in pole vault Kedarius Bruce, Danny Edgell, Jamal Spears and Charles Boling took 5th in the 4x200 m relay and broke the school record with a 1:35.25. Precious Banks placed 8th in the 500m run Melissa Messier, Precious Banks, Kristen Jones and Tyler Drake placed 7th in the 4x400 m relay and the girl’s 4x800 m relay broke the school record by 5 seconds with a time of 10:02.86. That team consisted of Lynelle Douma, Precious Banks, Melissa Messier and Tyler Drake. Congratulations to all of the athletes for a great season.

Congratulations to the Fluvanna High School winter guard on their third place finish last Saturday at (faw-KEER) Fauquier High School. This was Fluvanna first competition in the Scholastic A-2 Division, and they faced 8 competitors from across the state. Fluvanna next performance will be at South Brunswick High School, for the 2008 WGI Power Regional on March 15th and 16th. Support your team by supporting the members who are raising funds for this trip.


Congratulations go out to the Fluvanna County High School Band, on their Excellent Rating on Friday at Charlottesville High School. Fluvanna earned a Rating of Excellent for their performance. Fluvanna will also be performing in Concert at Fluvanna in April and May, so be on the lookout for concert announcements.

AMERICAN IDOL CONTEST The following students were winners in the American Idol contest held in the media center on March 6 as they correctly guessed 2 of the 4 contestants who were voted off: Steven Harris, Travis May, Jacob Clarke, Alli Buel, Katelin Perkins, Christy Leake, Wesley Sullens, Sarah Peterson, Stephanie Agee, and Rachel Yellets. Also, Adam Edmunds was a winner for the staff. Those listed may come by the media center to claim their candy prize.


WRESTLING Determination was the word of the weekend for sophomore wrestler, Willy Crawford. He traveled to the AA State wrestling tournament with that word in mind. Willy wrestled 6 matches to reach a final 3rd place finish in the state. He lost his 2nd match to a Smithfield H.S. senior 16-4. GIRLS BASKETBALL All girls interested in going to UVA basketball team camp this summer, stop by the Math Lab and pick up a brochure and flyer from Coach White. STUDENTS Girl's basketball conditioning will start April 14, 2008. This is for any girl who is interested in playing basketball next year. Conditioning will be Monday - Wednesday of each week. From 3:45-5:00. If you participate you must have a valid physical on file. If you have any questions, see Coach White. IF YOU ARE PARTICIPATING IN A SPRING SPORT YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO ATTEND CONDITIONING.


Blood Drive is April 16, 2008 All interested students and staff please sign up for an appointment in the front office. NOTE: Students with permission slips on file must still sign up for an appointment, as I do not know who is playing sports this season.


STUDENTS As of next year, the Photography One course will be changed from film photography to digital photography. The Photography 2 and 3 students will have the option of digital or film. See Ms. Greenwood if you have any questions.


ANNUAL SPRING CONCERT On this Sunday March 30th at 4:00 pm the Choral Department will present its Annual Spring Concert in central auditorium. The concert will feature all 3 of FCHS choral ensemble performing many styles of music. Come out and enjoy the show. General Adm. $3.00.

JUNIORS & SENIORS On Thursday, April 3rd a representative of ITT Technical Institute will be here for a meeting at 10 a.m. If you are interested in the technical field or in criminal justice or are looking for college options, sign up to participate in the Career Center.
