NOVEMBER 1

JUNIORS & SENIORS Fluvanna County Administrative Offices in conjunction with Fluvanna County High School have developed a PAID internship program for Juniors and Seniors who are interested in learning how our county's public offices operate. The first two internship programs are for an Information Technology intern and a Building Inspections intern. Virginia state employment applications must be completed in order to apply for these positions. The application can be found at https://jobs.state.va.us/appempv2.pdf and must be submitted to the Guidance office by November 5, 2007. If you would like more information regarding these internships descriptions and the application process, please see Ms. Lewis in Guidance.


STUDENTS Anybody interested in running Indoor track practice will begin Nov.12th. You must have a physical before participating. If you have any question stop by Coach Brogan's room #202.


BOYS BASKETBALL Any boy interested in trying out for boy’s basketball must have a physical turned in to Coach Rateau or Coach Ward by Monday, November 5th. No exceptions will be made.


SENIORS if you do not turn in your senior formal photo by November 5th, you will not be placed in the 2007-2008 yearbook. We have passed our deadline for senior photos, and we cannot hold off on submitting the photos any longer. Please be a part of this year's all-color yearbook in which senior photos will be glossed and featured.


BOYS SOCCER There will be a meeting during clubs on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 for anyone interested in playing or managing boy’s soccer in the spring. If you want to play it is important that you attend the meeting. Sign up with Coach Morrison in room 223 on or before Tuesday, November 6th.


GIRLS BASKETBALL Any girl interested in trying out for basketball needs to have a physical turned in to Coach White by November 9th. Physicals will not be accepted after the 9th.


STUDENTS SOL camp will begin on November 7th. You received a permission slip with your report card. Turn in your SOL camp form to your teacher or Mrs. Blevins. You may sign up for one or two subjects. Each subject runs for 6 days.


ANYONE TRYING OUT FOR WRESTLING @ FCHS If you are trying out for the wrestling team at FCHS you must have your body fat tested before tryouts start on November 12th. Testing will during 1st, 3rd, or 4th blocks and will begin on OCTOBER 29th and continue through November 12th. See Trainer Davis for a pass to get out of class. Make sure you drink plenty of water throughout the day, if you are too dehydrated you cannot be tested. Any questions see Trainer Davis


SWIM TEAM Anyone interested in swimming this year on the phenomenal Fluvanna County High School Swim Team MUST see Coach Banton or Coach Small by November 8th. A physical must be submitted and you must be on "the list" to participate. Practice begins November 12th at FUMA!


ACE The first practice will be Monday, November 5th, 2nd practice is Wednesday, November 7th. Practices will be from 3:30 until 5 p.m. Please attend one of these practices if you would like to be on the team. See Mr. Small in room 228 with any questions or concerns.


FOOD DRIVE FCHS will be having a food drive from now until November 20th. The SGA will have a pizza party for the winning class. So bring in tons of cans for our local food bank. Bring cans into your second period teacher.


POWDER PUFF T SHIRTS If you are signed up to play Powder Puff, t-shirts will be on sale for $12.00 until Thursday, November 1st. You can give your money to one of the class officers. If you don't pay by Thursday you will not be able to play.

Winter conditioning will start Tuesday, November 6th at 3:45 -5:15 at the middle school. Conditioning will be Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Don't forget that in addition to good grades, you must also be in "good standing" to be on honor roll. The list of students meeting these criteria is on the bulletin board near the main lobby. We are planning for the pep bus now. Travel forms are available from Mr. Rose in room 217 or Ms. White in room 229 for students who wish to ride the bus to go support our team. The cost of the trip is five dollars plus money for game admission and food. Forms and money are due to Mr. Rose or Ms. White by 3:25 on Wednesday, November 7th. Space is limited and will be first come, first served. Get out and support your Flucos!

CONGRATULATIONS to Melissa Messier! She placed 29th out of 133 runners in the State Cross Country meet. She broke 20 min and ran a 19:48 for 3.1 miles. She is also ranked 2nd in the Central Virginia Coaching Poll. Excellent season!

Piano and Guitar recital On Thursday December 6th the Choral Department will present a Piano and Guitar recital. The performance will feature all of FCHS's Piano and Guitar students as well as Madrigals. It will be held in Central Auditorium and will begin at 7:30 pm. Come out and enjoy.

Congratulations to the Marching Flucos on their upswing in momentum for the last week of the competitive season. Your marching flucos finished in sixth place at Giants stadium, on Saturday November 10th against 8 bands in the group I Open class. Then on Friday the 16th, Fluvanna powered up to fourth place at the National Championships with a score of 92.575 against 11 competitors. Fluvanna also finished 3rd in color guard, and 2nd in percussion. This marks the end of a memorable season for the Marching Flucos. A lot of hard work from the students, parents, and staff went into this production. Many thanks to all who made this season possible. Special thanks go out to our sound man Mr. Holding. You are in our thoughts and prayers, and we wish you a speedy recovery.


ATTENTION STUDENTS INTERESTED IN WINTER GUARD. There will be two mandatory meetings for the Fluvanna County High School Winter Guard on MONDAY, November 26th and WEDNESDAY, November 28th. The meetings will be after school until 5:45 in the band room. DRESS FOR REHEARSAL! Membership is open to all FCHS and Fluvanna Middle School students, but there will be an audition.
