CONGRATULATIONS to the varsity volleyball team for a great finish in the Virginia Volleyball Showcase in Richmond this weekend. The team finished in 3rd place, 3-1, beating 2 AAA schools. Special congratulations to Lindsey Hurt and Kayla Walker for being selected to the All-tournament team!

If you have a car from the last 50 years that is in great condition see Mr. Scruggs to register it for the car show. More details about this great event will be presented at a later date.

Congratulations to the J.V. Football team on their 43 to 14 win over R.E. Lee last night. The Flucos were led by Tyler Denby who scored 3 touchdowns as well as Michael Guard, Kenneth Wells, and YaYa Anderson who each scored 1 touchdown. Trenton White contributed an interception on defense. This win gives the J.V. Flucos 2 wins and zero losses on the season. They next play Goochland on Wednesday, September 12th at home with a game time of 7:00pm.

There are fiction and non-fiction books about pirates available for checkout and our monthly contest follows this same pirate theme so be sure to enter. On September 24th during 3rd period study hall we will host a contest in the Media Center based on the trivia facts presented daily on In the Know. We will be recruiting volunteer participants and audience members for the contest. Hope ye mates will want to join in on the fun. Sign up at lunch today and in the media center prior to this Friday, Sept 14th. Participants and audience members will be selected at random. Listen carefully to the pirate trivia in case you are selected to be a contestant. You will get a pass during 2nd block if you have been selected to participate and teachers will get a list of students who should have a pass. The contestant from each study hall that receives the highest score in answering the questions will be the winner and receive a prize. Pirate trivia fact: After 1700, the pirate flag was changed from a red banner called the Bloody Flag to a white skull and cross bones on a black background. This is known as the Jolly Roger. STUDENTS The Library Media Center will host another contest for September with the theme of pirates. The Pirate’s Treasure Contest will begin on 9-6-07 and end on September 28th. GIRLS BASKETBALL CONDITIONING will start September 25th at 3:45 p.m. Conditioning will end at 5 p.m. All girls attending conditioning will need a valid physical completed in order to participate. Any questions see Coach White.

STUDENTS The First Annual Decade Dance will be held on Saturday September 22, 7 Ð 11. So what’s a Decade Dance? The Dance will start at 7:00 with the music of the 1950Õs and then every half hour change to the next decade. So you’ll get to move to the top dance songs of the 50Õs through to the 2000Õs. The 90Õs and 2000Õs will feature one hour each of the music you know best. Tickets are $3.00 for the dance and $5.00 for the dance and Car Show, which begins a 5:00 pm. Tickets go on sale Wednesday.


STUDENTS The Virginia Piedmont Technology Council will once again be sponsoring the Tech Tour on Thursday, October 25 from 8:30-3:00. We will be able to take up to 15 students for this all day event. Information sheets and permission forms are available in the guidance office. We will review all forms turned in, checking grades and attendance to determine which students will be able to participate. If you are interested in a fun filled day seeing the diverse career possibilities offered by our regional technology community, stop by the guidance office to pick up an application. PRIATE TRIVIA Students and staff have been selected to participate in the Pirate Trivia Contest to be held live in the media center on Monday, 9-24-07 during A and D lunches only. If you have been selected to participate either as a contestant or as an audience member, then your name will be on a list sent to teachers and a pass given to you during second period on 9-24-07.


STUDENTS Due to lack of interest the Decade Dance has be cancelled if you purchased a ticket see Mr. Scruggs for your refunded But The Car Show is still on from 5 Ð 8 PM this Saturday, September 22. There are a fair number of cars slated to be on display in the student parking lot. Cars from the 30Õs through the 2000Õs will be show including 4x4 trucks and SUVs. Admission is $3.00. We will also have DJs playing great music with drinks and food for sale Come out and take a trip to the past without leaving the parking lot. Proceeds benefit the FCHS Choral Department.


Spaghetti Dinner The Fluvanna County High School Marching Band is hosting a Spaghetti Dinner, this Saturday, September 22nd from 5-7 p.m. in the cafeteria.
