Requirements
Promotion Standards
Students are in grade levels based up to the following factors- 9th grade - 0-5 credits earned
- 10th grade - 6-11 credits earned and have passed Eng 9
- 11th grade - 12-17 credits earned and have passed Eng 9 and 10
- 12th grade - 18 credits earned and have passed Eng 9, 10, 11 and passed the English 11 Reading and Writing SOL's, and have accumulated a minimum of 4 other verified credits
Virginia Standards of Learning Tests
All students are required to take the Virginia Standards of Learning End-of-Course Tests for English 11 Reading, English 11 Writing, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, World Geography, World History I & II, US History when they are scheduled to complete the course.Graduation Requirements
Graduation requirements vary depending on whether a student is enrolled in a Modified Standard Diploma, Standard Diploma, Advanced Studies Diploma, Special Diploma or Certificate of Attendance program. Information given to students when they register for classes each spring will define the requirements for each program. Please check the Program of Studies for more information. FCHS is required to follow the Standards of Accreditation, which dictates graduation requirements. The standard unit of credit is based on 140 clock hours of instruction and successful completion of the course. Verified units of credit are based on a minimum of 140 clock hours of instruction, successful completion of the course and passage of the related SOL test.Return to top.
