Modified Standard Diploma

This Diploma Program is intended for certain students at the secondary level who have a disability and are unlikely to meet the credit requirements for a Standard Diploma. Eligibility and participation shall be determined by the student's Individual Education Program.

(1) Courses to satisfy this requirement shall include content from among applications of Algebra (Algebra I Part I), Geometry, (Geometry Part I), personal finance (Principles of Finance), and statistics courses.

(2) Courses completed shall include content from at least two of the following: Application of Earth Science (Earth Science Part I), Biology (Biology Part I), Chemistry, or Physics.

(3) Courses shall include one unit of credit in US and Virginia History and one unit of credit in US and Virginia Government.

(4) Courses to satisfy this requirement shall include at least two sequential electives (i.e. Drama I and Acting; Keyboarding and CIS; Office Specialist I & II; EFE I & II; etc.)

(5) Students must pass 8th grade Reading and Mathematics SOL tests in order to obtain this diploma.
