             Cost:                  No cost for selected participants

             Deadline:           April 2

             Recertification Points:  40

 

· PCRRC:  A Process Standards Approach to Build Bridges from Arithmetic to Algebraic Thinking, Grades 4—6

             This is a professional development project to increase teacher’s knowledge and skills in              early algebraic reasoning. 

 

             This is for current or future grades 4-6 classroom teachers, special education teachers,              and staff who have responsibilities for coaching teachers at these levels.  We have been              awarded seven slots.

 

             Dates:    July 12—16

             Cost:     None– Teachers who successfully complete the Summer 2010 and School Year              2010-2011 Follow-up project will receive a stipend of $1100, a Digimemo 2, other              books and materials, and up to 90 recertification points.  The stipend may be used to              purchase graduate credit.

 

             Location:           University of Virginia

             Registration:     Please complete the attached registration form and return to Brenda                   Gilliam at the School Board Office by March 31.  Space is limited to 7 participants from              Fluvanna.

 

· 21st Century Teaching Leads to 21st Century Learning– Functions Algebra Grant Project

             This program is for algebra teachers.  The Functions Algebra Project is a professional              development project designed to provide algebra teachers in grades 8-12 the opportunity              to develop a functional-based vision of algebra.

            

             Dates:    To Be Determined

 

             Cost:     None– Teachers who successfully complete the Summer 2010 and School Year              2010-2011 Follow-up project will receive a stipend of $1100, a Digimemo 2, a CBR 2              other books and materials, and up to 90 recertification points.  The stipend may be used              to purchase graduate credit.

 

             Location:           Charlottesville

            

             Registration:     Please complete the attached registration form and return to Brenda                   Gilliam at the School Board Office by March 31.  Space is limited to 4 participants from              Fluvanna.

 

· Summer Online Courses through Virginia Tech

 

· Online Courses for Professional Studies through Virginia Tech

 

· JMU Content Teaching Academy– Green Across the Curriculum:  Sustaining Life and Learning

             Dates:                 June 28—July 2

             Location:           James Madison University

             Cost:                  $390 if registered before May 1.  Additional fees for lodging, meals and                                          graduate credit.

 

· Colonial Williamsburg– Teacher Institute in Early American History

             Dates:                 Vary throughout the summer

             Location:           Colonial Williamsburg

             Cost:                  $1900– includes lodging and meals.  Additional fee of $180 for graduate                                        credit.  

 

· 14th Annual National Leadership Academy

             Dates:                 June 20—22

             Location:           The Great Wolf Lodge, Williamsburg, VA

             Cost:                  $595

             Registration Deadline:   May 31

 

· Curriculum and Instruction for High Ability Learners

             Sponsored by the Center for Gifted Education at the College of William and Mary

             Dates:                 June 23—25

             Location:           Williamsburg

             Cost:                  $365

             Registration:     Information will be available in May

 

· Advanced Placement (AP) Institute

             The Advanced Placement (AP) Summer Institute, co-sponsored by the College Board              Southern Regional Office, the School of Education, and the Center for Gifted Education,              is a week-long event that offers current and future AP teachers the opportunity to work              with College Board-approved consultants and William and Mary faculty on AP course              content, teaching strategies, and programmatic ideas and issues. The classes are              designed for new and beginning teachers of Advanced Placement courses, teachers with

             0-3 years or Advanced Placement teaching experience.
