The Fluvanna County School Board is excited to announce Mrs. Amy Barnabei as the new Coordinator of Elementary Education. The School Board voted unanimously at their June Board Meeting to appoint Mrs. Barnabei on June 10, 2026.

"I am excited and honored for the opportunity to serve as the Coordinator of Elementary Education for Fluvanna County Public Schools," stated Mrs. Barnabei. "It has been a privilege to work alongside such an incredible staff, dedicated to fostering the growth and success of every child."

"I am committed to serving this community and our youngest learners through my work along with the dedicated educators of Fluvanna County," she continued. "I am grateful to build upon the strong foundation our division has established through its strategic planning efforts and look forward to continuing that important work."

Superintendent Peter Gretz shared his enthusiasm for Mrs. Barnabei's appointment and the impact her leadership will have across the division.

"Amy has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to supporting students, families, and staff throughout her career," said Dr. Gretz. "As she transitions from serving as a highly successful school principal to this division-wide instructional leadership role, she brings a deep understanding of teaching and learning, a passion for student success, and a collaborative approach that will strengthen support for our elementary schools."

"So much of Amy's work has centered on ensuring that every decision is made through an instructional lens and with students at the forefront," Assistant Superintendent, Gemma Soares shared. "Her experience leading school improvement efforts for our students, supporting educators, and building strong partnerships with families will be invaluable as we continue advancing the division's strategic goals and providing exceptional learning experiences for all students."
